Registered Massage Therapists

SCARLET POWELL, BA

Registered Massage Therapist

Scarlet has 8+ years of experience as a registered massage therapist and she gets tremendous joy from helping her clients feel better! Over the years she has brought lasting relief to clients experiencing a wide variety of musculoskeletal concerns, including shoulder and hip dysfunction, neck and back pain and stiffness, headaches, piriformis syndrome (sciatic nerve pain down the leg), and much more.

Scarlet’s technique is slow, rhythmic, and gradual as she thoroughly treats areas of pain and discomfort. A central goal in Scarlet’s sessions is to decrease the pain experience by calming the nervous system. Therefore, though she uses deep tissue, active release, kinetic massage, PNF stretching, and trigger point release techniques when appropriate, the overall experience is intended to be deeply relaxing.

Scarlet is a forever learner with a deep interest in understanding pain intervention and body work from all perspectives. Scarlet received thorough training in anatomy, physiology, assessment, and treatment at MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy where she graduated with honours in 2017. Since then, she has received further training in yoga and body rolling as home-care, kinetic massage of the shoulder joints, orthopedic assessment, pain science and the biopsychosocial model, trauma-informed bodywork, and advanced manual lymphatic drainage.

Scarlet’s treatment room is a safe, kind, judgement-free space. She works with people of all ages and stages, including pregnancy.

“The Welling Centre is a terrific space and Scarlet is the best. I looked for a massage therapist for years and I finally found Scarlet. She hits that sweet spot between technical knowledge and relaxing presence. I have bi-weekly appointments set up with her to make sure I get my Scarlet fix. When I need to see her for acute pain, she always gets me fixed up and back on my feet. You want to make an appointment with her!”

“I have been receiving massages from Scarlet since September 2018. I have had a hip replacement and will have to have my other hip replaced as well. From the outset she has been a godsend . At one session I was in such pain that any movement was excruciating. After the massage I was shocked and delighted to have little pain. Each visit that I have had is a positive one. I do not usually post reviews but feel compelled to do so based on the excellent care that I receive from Scarlet”

“I had an amazing massage today from Scarlet Welling-Yiannakoulias, RMT. She was very professional, caring, respectful and the atmosphere was peaceful and comforting. I had multiple areas of pain and at the end of the 1 hour session I felt very relaxed and refreshed. She was able to release the troubled areas more effectively than any other massage therapist I’ve been to. I highly recommend her!!”

“I’ve never left any healthcare, wellness or massage therapy centre feeling such a tangible and lasting change. My mobility and posture have both improved immensely since I began here in ways I’d assumed were impossible! Craig has had an incredible impact on my health. I can’t recommend him enough!”

“Not the therapeutic massage that I was expecting; it was better than anything I thought possible. My skeleton is being gently coaxed into proper alignment, and I am able to move so much easier than before. And my tension headaches are almost extinct! I feel blessed to have stumbled onto Craig and the treatments he has provided.”

“I saw Craig at the Welling Centre. Craig is an intuitive, caring, and thorough practitioner. His gentle and firm method of body work gets right to the root of the problem. He is attentive and listens carefully to what I say and, to what I don’t say, in order to relieve pain and tension. My posture is improved, my pain is relieved and my tensions are soothed after a session with him. I have seen Craig before and I will see him again whenever I am in pain. I highly recommend Craig!”

“Craig has been able to heal longstanding body pain that I’ve had that other massage therapists were unable to. His work has had a lasting effect on me. I highly recommend him.”
-K.L., 2024 (Google review)

“I go to see Craig and his magic hands. He listens to what you tell him and will actually help relieve the pain and discomfort. Very gentle applying gradual pressure and holding spots to make sure there is release and he doesn’t use oils (at least during my experiences) which is great if you hate leaving a massage oily. 12/10 would recommend!”
